Let’s nourish futures by removing processed foods from schools!
Countless conversations and hours lost spent debating which diet is optimal for our health, for longevity, and for weight. And while the answer is nuanced (consider what’s local to your region, your goals for your nutrition and nourishment, the season of life you are in) I ultimately think it comes back to one thing and one thing only-and that’s consuming real food. I believe that will always be the answer. Relying on food from the Earth for nourishment, food that does not come out of a box or bag, that does not have an ingredient list, that is not loaded with chemicals, dyes, and sugar. Once you start eating real food again you can connect to and appreciate the importance of locally grown food, of eating something picked from your own garden, of humane and sustainable practices- which are not only good for us but good for the planet and future generations. We have been manipulated into believing that lab made convenience “substances” are food, and that counting calories and watching fat intake is the way to a healthy weight. There are powerful forces working to shift our attention away from the simplicity of the solution and yet it couldn’t be simpler. Through the endless noise and confusion we keep focusing on the wrong things (like calories and fat, Keto vs. plant based) which keeps us entrenched in the sick care system, buying their lab made products that we have been conditioned to believing is food. We live in a time where people think you are dieting if you decide to stop eating items that were not even food in the first place!

When we think about what is best for our health and longevity the answer is and will always be real food and the connection it fosters- connection to Earth, the soil, the people that grow and catch our food, and our ancestors. Real food is medicine which can be used to heal much of the sickness and suffering that we are collectively experiencing. Real food connects us to those that came before us and to future generations. Processed food is the antithesis of that- it severs our connection with our planet, it separates us from the people that catch and grow our food, and it is directly causing a breakdown in our families- from younger generations who do not how to feed and cook for their families to older generations suffering from lifestyle diseases caused by the convenience foods they were told were “healthy”.
If you are ready to start fostering your connection to Earth and ready to begin eating foods that are minimally processed then be sure to grab WCH-USA’s flyer (coming soon) for an easy systematic approach to crowding out processed foods with nutrient dense foods that nourish instead of deplete.
Big business has profited off of our kids for long enough.
It is time for us to stand up and create school environments that prioritize health and well being over profits. Our children are facing an unprecedented rise in chronic diseases (such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, anxiety, etc.) and one of the major contributing factors to this trend is the consumption of ultra processed food. Foods high in sugar, unhealthy fats, additives/ preservatives, and artificial ingredients that offer no nutritional value are coming at a high cost to children’s health and their future. The World Council for Health wants to do something about it…
Our vision is to replace processed food with whole nutrient dense options that support lifelong health and wellness. We want to engage with students and educate parents, teachers and cafeteria staff to understand the impact that food has on their health, mood and performance. We want to teach people how to advocate and prepare real food options for themselves. We envision schools that partner with local farms and suppliers to increase access to seasonal, locally grown produce while systematically decreasing packaged processed foods.
We are calling on everyone, including health professionals and community leaders to join us!
